Kristine Purcell Sacco

Hello!

I am a watercolor illustrator and writer creating sweet, charming stories brought to life through a soft, gentle color palette. My work is inspired by the warmth and nostalgia of classic, family centered picture books.
With an Associate’s degree in Commercial Art, a Bachelor’s in Art Education, and a Master’s in Advanced Secondary Education, I’ve navigated the worlds of both professional art and teaching. My career has spanned roles as a commercial artist and as an art teacher, where I’ve had the privilege of supporting students with special needs. These experiences have not only honed my craft but also shaped the way I tell stories, grounding them in empathy, patience, and understanding.
As an active member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and the 12 x 12 Picture Book Challenge, I continue to grow and connect within the children’s publishing community.
When I’m not painting or writing, I’m usually found in the company of my two sweet puppies, Oliver and Mitsy. I also cherish time with my husband, children, and growing number of grandchildren, each of whom continues to inspire the stories I tell.
