Kristine Purcell Sacco

Hello...
I am a watercolor illustrator and writer, creating sweet, charming stories brought to life with a soft color palette. My work evokes the warmth and nostalgia of classic, family centered picture book stories.
I hold an AS in Commercial Art, a BA in Art Education, and an MAT in Advanced Secondary Education. Professionally, I’ve worked as both a commercial artist and an art teacher, with a special focus on supporting students with special needs. These experiences deeply inform the heart with empathy which I bring to my storytelling.
I’m an active member of the Pittsburgh Society of Illustrators, the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), and the 12 x 12 Picture Book Challenge. I also lead a local SCBWI critique group, where I enjoy mentoring and encouraging fellow writers and illustrators.
When I’m not painting or writing, I’m usually found in the company of my two sweet puppies, Oliver and Mitsy. I also treasure time with my husband, children, and growing number of grandchildren, each of whom continue to inspire my stories.
